| Description | Acacia hammondii or Acacia torulosa; Melaleuca viridiflora, Melaleuca nervosa and Petalostigma quadriloculare shrubland, often with emergent trees including Eucalyptus pruinosa, Corymbia polycarpa and Melaleuca spp. Ground layer of Triodia spp. and diverse forbs. Occurs on older sandy alluvium on undulating plateau surfaces. Not a Wetland. (BVG1M: 21b). Vegetation communities in this regional ecosystem include: 1.5.10a: Acacia hammondii, Melaleuca viridiflora, Melaleuca nervosa and Petalostigma quadriloculare shrubland, often with emergent trees including Eucalyptus pruinosa, Corymbia polycarpa and Melaleuca spp. Ground layer of Triodia spp. and diverse forbs. Some swampy areas with emergent Eucalyptus pruinosa. Occurs on older sandy alluvium with impeded drainage. Not a Wetland. (BVG1M: 21b). 1.5.10b: Acacia torulosa, Melaleuca viridiflora, Eucalyptus pruinosa and Petalostigma quadriloculare shrubland, often with emergent trees including Eucalyptus pruinosa and Melaleuca spp. Ground layer of Triodia bitextura and diverse forbs. Occurs around the edge of a Tertiary plateau known as 'The Desert' on the Camooweal map sheet. Not a Wetland. (BVG1M: 21b). |

| Fire management guidelines | SEASON: Storm season to early dry season. INTENSITY: Various. INTERVAL: >30 years. INTERVAL_MIN: 30. INTERVAL_MAX: 100. STRATEGY: Burn in association with surrounding country. Maintain mosaic burning in surrounding country to mitigate against spread of unplanned fire into acacia woodlands. ISSUES: Acacia communities need fire for recruitment but make sure they occur at long intervals. Acacia communities are sensitive to high frequency intense fires. Buffel grass invasion can increase the potential for frequent and damaging fires. |
